High Accuracy Solution
Providing accurate location data is the key to success and usability of location-intelligent services. Operators can use the LMCE to leverage their investments in handset and network-based positioning determination equipment. Location Manager gathers a subscriber’s location from multiple available sources (Cell-ID, Assisted GPS, Angle OfArrival (AOA), Enhanced Observed Time Difference (E-OTD) and Time Difference Of Arrival (TDOA)) and securely delivers that data to the requesting application. The system can be configured to provide best available or select a specific method with backup, ensuring the right level of accuracy, consistent availability and cost control.
Privacy and Security
Protecting subscriber privacy and trust is critical for commercial location services. LMCE provides the controls necessary to secure the permission-based release of a subscriber’s location. This is achieved by providing provisioning mechanism to Subscribers to provision access privileges for applications requesting their location.
Location Methods Supported The following position methods are supported to retrieve location information from Positioning Determining Entities (PDE):
- Cell ID via MAP-ATI interface for GSM, Cell/Sector ID via CDMA SS7 core network interfaces
- Assisted GPS supported via – Qualcomm v1/v2 PDE for CDMA, Secured User Plane Location 1.0 (SUPL 1.0)
- AFLT, AoA, EOTD, TDOA
