Big Data
According to the IDC 2011 Digital Universe Study, the amount of information created and replicated in 2011 will surpass 1.8 zettabytes (trillion gigabytes), representing growth by a factor of 9 times in just 5 years; the number is forecasted to reach 35 zettabytes by the end of this decade. This exponentially growing dataset, comprising of both structured and unstructured content has come to be known as Big Data.
Enterprises today are having to deal with Big Data challenges of their own. They are struggling to manage and analyze an avalanche of data coming at them from a variety of sources - internal teams, public entities, social media, web applications and data centers. Current enterprise solutions are unable to handle the volume, variety and velocity of these datasets. They have challenges with scaling and lack adequate speed and performance necessary to yield meaningful results.
Persistent has been at the forefront of the Big Data revolution, working on key technologies, building platforms and creating solutions to help enterprises solve Big Data problems - whether it is developing algorithms on Hadoop to solve large computational problems, or building Text Analytics techniques to analyze unstructured text and perform sentiment analysis. Persistent has an in-house Hadoop competency center and a team of Big Data technology experts with skills in technologies such as IBM BigInsights, Hadoop Map Reduce programming, Hive, AQL and JAQL.
