CHAIRMAN'S STATEMENT - 2004-05
Fifteen years ago, Persistent Systems was born in the Software Technology Park in Pune, with a dream; A dream to build innovative software from India. Fifteen years back, the Indian software industry was still in its infancy. Offshore software development was a new concept and the infrastructure to carry out offshore development was inadequate.
To convert this dream into reality, we needed a great team and a great set of partners. We succeeded in attracting the best talent; A highly energetic team that shared the dream and worked persistently to achieve it. We also allied with the best of partners - the market leaders reputed for innovative products. During the first fifteen years, we have set up a very strong foundation for the Company. A foundation that will help us realize our vision.
Today, offshore software development is well accepted. The Indian software industry is able to exploit the availability of “low-cost” talent available in India to provide software services to the rest of the world. This cost-advantage will not last for long, though. Now is the time to think beyond the cost arbitrage and focus on new value propositions.
We have positioned ourselves as a leader in outsourced software product development. Our dream to build innovative software from India continues. Pursuing in this direction, we have built strategic alliances with Industry leaders and have evolved best practices and methodologies that help us in servicing our clients better.
The first fifteen years have been eventful and we are now on the threshold of more exciting times.
Best Regards,
Anand Deshpande
