Performance Engineering
The Performance Engineering Practice exists to provide specific technological expertise required to build high performance, highly scalable software systems. The Practice will serve as the one-stop full-spectrum solution centre, wherever the requirements of Persistent's customers demand expertise in performance modeling, performance evaluation or performance driven architecture and implementation.
Performance Engineering Practice services are delivered through the following core functional units:
- Performance Evaluation, Benchmarking, and Certification
The EB&C function focuses on performance measurements and performance modeling. EB&C sustains the infrastructure and expertise required to provide quantitative performance data that serves as the basis of Performance Baselining, Capacity Planning, What-If Performance Scenario Modeling, Product Scalability Characterization, Competitive Performance Evaluations, Benchmarking and Performance Certification.
EB&C capabilities span workload characterization, load generation, system instrumentation, experimental design and data analysis and visualization.
- Performance Architecture and Design Advisory
The A&DA function offers architectural and implementation level consultancy to develop software products and systems that have performance built in by design, and not by coincidence.
A&DA capabilities span performance prototyping, architecture evaluation, algorithm development and system tuning and optimization.
Performance Engineering Group personnel are drawn from a diversity of technical backgrounds, and chosen for their core development experience, domain expertise and comprehensive computer science and systems grounding.
The Performance Engineering Practice maintains the state of the art infrastructure required to deliver on its primary mission. The Practice's Performance Engineering Laboratory has a variety of server class hardware platforms, a reconfigurable load generation cluster, facilities for network isolation, and a wide cross section of software tools, commercial as well as open source and custom developed, for modeling, load generation system measurement and data analysis and visualization.
